Marketing IT services requires a unique skillset and as IT Partners discovered, not all companies have the right mix. Using specialist agencies for content and design resulted in a lack of cohesion and cost without value for the Hamilton-based IT provider. IT Partners provides IT support and services to businesses throughout the Waikato. The Challenges

As a company, IT Partners was in a fortunate position. Much of their business came via word of mouth, but the IT organisation was also aware of the need for effective marketing activity to widen their client base.

Managing Director, Andrew Johnson, admits their marketing approach was ad hoc. “We had tried multiple companies without much success,” he says. “We had one company writing the content and the other doing the graphic design.”

This brought with it frustrations for all parties involved. “There was no cohesion between the two companies, leaving the whole process fragmented,” Andrew recalls. “Furthermore, it was a case of cost without value. We were getting expensive designs that weren’t practical and materials that didn’t add a lot of value.”

IT Partners knew of HGB via its partner company, Lightwire. “HGB had already done some very successful work for Lightwire, so it was a no brainer to get them on board to help keep our marketing moving in the right direction,” says Andrew.
