Online Contractors’ road to a stylish brand development

By HGB , Apr 23 2018
Civil contractors Online Contractors has always wanted to challenge the status quo in the roading industry.

Approaching HGB with its brand development challenge, our graphic design team took the Online Contractors‘ brand to the next level.

To refresh the Online Contractors brand, HGB set out to give it some style and ensure a clear and consistent look across all marketing touch points.

To kick things off, we sat down with Dan Hopper, Director, to find out more about the business, where it started and where they wanted to go.

“We’re a solution-based company, we work alongside our customers, and we enjoy repeat business because of this,” he told us. “We want to be smart and be seen – without being over the top”. By understanding the business objectives, we were able to develop a brand that would help them reach their goals.

From this discussion and our research into the market, we developed creative concepts for a refreshed design, and looked at how these could be applied across digital and offline. A particular strategic element the create cohesion was to take the ‘O’ across all three companies – Online Contractors, Online Stabilisers and Earth Source.

The team worked with Dan to refine the chosen brand, before rolling it out across business cards, signage, and vehicle graphics.

The company vehicles were a top priority for Dan, as the nature of their work sees the team out on the road for much of the time. He was also keen for the fleet of vehicles to become mobile billboards.

This required a specialist application, so we worked with our printers, CMYK, to choose the right printing method for the job. This involved using an overgloss method, with the illusion of 3D spacing.

Dan and the team were stoked with the new brand. “We asked for a quick and seamless process, and out of this came a brand we’re proud of,” he says.
