You can take the girl out of the South Island, but you can’t take the South Island(er) out of the girl – or so Monique thinks.
Born and raised in beautiful Central Otago, Monique made the move to the mighty Waikato, many moons ago. Here, she found her love for the marketing realm, passion for building relationships, and the enjoyment she gained in creating innovative strategies through tactical, out-of-the-box thinking.
Monique’s a strong believer in what can be accomplished with a good cup of coffee by your side, and the right attitude. That’s a lot, just so we are clear. And she brings this old muck-in attitude into every aspect of her life.
Outside of work, you’ll often find Monique over the great Hamilton divide, beachside in picture-perfect Raglan. Here, she lives with her husband Sam and little lady Zooey.
How did you come to join the HGB team? The year was 2019. The sun was shining, the meeting room was empty, and the promise of coffee and some friendly banter was enough to secure a meeting with Jacqui and Kylie. The rest, they say, is history.
What is something not many people know about you? Where to start! I have been on four TV networks, a part of three documentaries, in two tv shows, had a production made from a portion of my life, been on the cover of multiple newspapers annnnnnd in national and international magazines.
What is one thing you could live without? My baby Zooey, with coffee in a close second.
If you were a wizard, what would your Patronus be? Probably a lioness (she says thinking aloud). I can have quite a roar (of laughter) when need-be, I’m super protective of my pride, and love to stalk a healthy meal or two.
Would you rather: be attacked by a grizzly bear, or a shark? Attacked by a shark. From what I know in my, admittedly, uneducated knowledge of sharks, they don’t like the taste of human blood, so the likelihood of survival is higher.
