Seamus Marten

Marketing Consultant
Back to our team

Fiercely proud of his Solomon Islands roots, Seamus started life in Taupo, before moving to the Waikato. A stint in Auckland was followed by a return to Hamilton, and then a two-year stint in Papua New Guinea, before returning to the Waikato.

After a long career in sports administration, both nationally and internationally, Seamus is now transferring those learnings from the sports teams and stadiums to HGB and its clients.

A content specialist, with people at the centre of everything Seamus does, and he approaches each task with empathy, diplomacy, and great communication.

You may have listened to his podcast – Between Two Beers – or seen him in the technical area for Melville United on the weekends, or trying to avoid work on Mondays so he can support the Seattle Seahawks.

Meet Seamus
  • How did you come to join the HGB team? Saw an opportunity on LinkedIn and went for it. But in parallel made it known to a couple of “friends of HGB” that I was VERY keen on joining the team and continuing to flesh out the age-old question, “what’s my why?”

  • What is something not many people know about you? I am an Olympian. Well, I was part of the New Zealand team at the 2012 London Olympics as the Team Manager of the men’s football team.

  • What quirky habits are you known for in the office? Flawless decision making.

  • What is one thing you couldn’t live without? Coffee. How good!?

  • Living or dead, if you could choose one person to have dinner with who would it be? Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp. He just seems like such an enthusiastic character and his personality seems infectious. Oh, and I love Liverpool FC and he brought us our first title in 30 years!

  • Would you rather: be attacked by a grizzly bear, or a shark? 100% grizzly bear! You won’t catch me in any water above my shoulders due to my fear of the ocean, and most shark attacks happen in 6 to 10 feet of water.

  • Last but not least, if you could choose one ice cream flavour to eat for the rest of your life what would it be? Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food. The swirled chewy marshmallow and gooey caramel in chocolate ice cream with the fish-shaped chocolatey chunks is just too good.
